UEFA
announced the the top 20 seeds for the upcoming draw for
the Euro 2004 qualifying rounds on January 25th, 2002:
1.
France, 2. Sweden, 3. Spain, 4. Czech Republic, 5. Germany,
6. Republic of Ireland, 7. Romania, 8. Italy, 9. Belgium,
10. Turkey, 11. Russia, 12. Croatia, 13. Denmark, 14.
Netherlands, 15. Yugoslavia , 16. Poland, 17. England,18.
Slovenia, 19. Ukraine, 20. Scotland
Teams will be drawn into 10 groups. Groups winners will
qualify directly. The 10 second-placed teams will play
home-and-away playoffs to decide the other 5 qualifiers.
Of course, the host, Portugal qualify automatically. Games
will begin September 7/8, 2002!
